University of Twente Seeks Postdoctoral Researcher in Remote Sensing for Tidal Ecosystem Analysis

Key Research Focus: Tidal Ecosystem Functioning

Based within the faculty of Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), the successful candidate will lead innovative research utilizing advanced remote sensing technologies. The research focuses on tidal areas, which are unique yet vulnerable ecosystems vital to biodiversity, coastal protection, and carbon storage. The postdoctoral researcher will examine ecosystem functions, including vegetation patterns, sediment dynamics, and tidal influences, using remote sensing data to reveal these complex interactions in unprecedented detail.

Role Responsibilities and Research Impact

The selected researcher will employ high-resolution remote sensing data, model ecosystem changes, and assess environmental factors affecting tidal areas. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team will be a cornerstone of this role, bridging ecology, environmental science, and geoinformatics to contribute valuable insights to the broader scientific community. The position also encourages innovative approaches, including the use of AI and machine learning, to create predictive models that could shape future conservation strategies for tidal ecosystems.

Your Qualifications

This role seeks candidates with a Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as remote sensing, ecology, environmental sciences, or geoinformatics, and a solid understanding of ecosystem processes and remote sensing techniques. Strong analytical skills, experience with data processing, and a passion for advancing environmental science are essential. The applicant should be living in or has a willingness to move to the Netherlands.

This is a unique chance for researchers eager to make meaningful contributions to ecosystem conservation and sustainability while advancing their careers at one of Europe's leading technical universities. Interested candidates can apply through the University of Twente's career portal.
