European Seagrass Restoration Alliance

The 2nd European Seagrass Restoration Workshop will take place at the Palais des Congrès, Arcachon, France, from April 8th to April 10th, 2025.
The theme of ESRW2, “Towards a European Seagrass Restoration Alliance”, is recognition that this European Seagrass Restoration Workshop is, at this stage, only an initiative and that an effective Alliance will only become a reality from the creation of a positive, welcoming and inclusive community.
The call for abstracts for posters is open until Friday 14th March 2025. Abstracts should be submitted to secretariat@esra-europe.eu in an editable format, following the guidelines available on the event website.
Due to a significant lack of funding in biodiversity financing, there has often been more pressure for restoration practitioners to actively work against each other than there has been for them to work together – but this kind of competition comes at a cost to everyone. From Competition to Coalition recognises that ESRA will be a group of people and organisations working together to achieve something – the recovery of European seagrass ecosystems. The rationale for creating ESRA today comes from the knowledge that we are at an ‘inflection point’ in Europe when it comes to nature restoration, and that now is the time to come together across species specialisms to speak with one voice for seagrass.
