Meet Bocar Konte from the University of Angers

Welcome to our newest REWRITER, Bocar Konte!
Bocar’s research focuses on the biogeochemical dynamics of intertidal mudflats. His work will
provide key insights into the processes that control carbon storage and release in these environments.
As part of his PhD, Bocar will combine field measurements with numerical modelling. He will deploy automated benthic
stations to precisely monitor variations in chemical elements within sediments and the composition of pore waters. These
high-resolution data will then feed into early diagenesis models.
By combining remote sensing, geostatistics, and machine learning tools, Bocar will also contribute to the upscaling of
local observations. This approach will make it possible to extend results from specific sites to entire mudflats and
eventually to a regional scale, offering an integrated view of the role of intertidal mudflats in carbon
sequestration.
His work will therefore play a major role in supporting restoration strategies and climate policies.
